The campaign "Rast of the Five Planes" is a campaign world which on the surface looks highly conventional. The first plane, Midgard, where most humans live has night and day. The second plane, Jotund, is always midnight dark, and has mostly goblinoids and giants, with some dwarves. The third plane, Glamour, is always twilight, and is where faery and other creatures of magic and illusion are found. The fourth plane, Mekanism, is always dawn, and has creatures of living metal. The fifth plane, Waste, is always noon bright, and has dragons and wizards, with orcs at the bottom of the food chain. All the planes have the same basic physical geography, and are at least (Earth) planetary size.
In this campaign transport spells have varients which will slip you to an adjacent plane. A third level sawn-off Dim Door will do - you don't go a distance, just to the next plane. Dimensional viewing spells will let you check adjacent planes to see if going there is a good idea.
